A Magical Food Truck Experience

I love to try new food and have new food related experiences, so when friends were calling round and our local taproom Beerheroes (https://www.beerheroes.com/) were hosting an American Style street food truck that same day, well, it was too good an opportunity to miss.... off we went to visit! Lovage and Rosemary is the brand name behind the Magical Food Truck. The inspiration comes from Beata Skorek and her love of food and all things magical. Based in North Wales and establ

Sausage & Red Lentil Casserole

On a chilly winter's night nothing quite hits the spot like a comforting casserole. I decided to try a new combination with this one and it worked really well. I used a spicy flavour of sausage - "Dragonfire" from Baker & Roberts Craft Butcher in Manley, Cheshire, but it's up to you on which sausages you use. I also used purple carrots but you don't have to. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed. The Recipe Ingredients 4 sausages 2 carrots peeled and cut into inch chunks 2

Chicken Dupiaza

I do love a curry. It seems to have become a staple in our diets these days and with so many varieties to try, it's unlikely we will ever tire of it. This Chicken Dupiaza was straightforward and easy to pull together. I hadn't made one before but was very happy with how it turned out. The Recipe Ingredients Serves 2 2 tbsp vegetable oil 1 large onion roughly chopped 1 shallot finely chopped 1 clove of ga

Cottage Pie

There's something really comforting about a cottage pie and it's perfect as a family meal or for batch cooking to stock up your freezer, either way it's a tasty edition to anyone's recipe repertoire. Some shy away due to the thought of mashed potato sinking into the mince but don't worry, I'll deal with that during the method of this recipe. It's a perfect Winter warmer meal. The Recipe Ingredients 1lb minced beef 1 large onion 4 or 5 carrots (I used purple & orange) 1 tbsp t

From Steak Burger to Meatballs

Sometimes you have to try and think a bit differently about which ingredients could offer multiple menu choices to you. Tonight, for example, I looked in my fridge and saw a lonely steak burger and thought - "what else could I do with that". I trust my butcher, so I know that the steak burger is minced steak (as the name suggests) so I started to think of other uses for it and then it came to me..... break it up into meatballs! This is exactly what I did and boy was it good.

Homemade Beef Lasagne

I made my first lasagne over 25 years ago and some of my closest friends will say it is my signature dish. It was certainly the most popular answer to "what shall I cook" when friends were coming over, and definitely my mum's favourite. I can't put my finger on what makes it so popular, I just think it's a very comforting type of food and a dish I'll never tire of cooking or indeed eating! The Recipe Ingredients 500g minced beef (as lean as possible - I use steak mince from t

Jazzy Jelly

Sometimes you get a craving for something sweet and these individual jellies are perfect to curb the craving. They are also a lovely dessert to serve when you have friends over for dinner, as they can be made well in advance. No-one wants to be stuck in the kitchen all night when friends come round. They can be altered to suit your particular favourite flavours, so have fun with them! The Recipe Ingredients 1 sachet of sugar free jelly 2 trifle sponge fingers (broken into pie

Chorizo Cous Cous

In the Winter months I usually opt for something hot to eat at lunchtimes. Cous Cous is really simple to make, if you can boil a kettle you're practically done! You can use chicken or even mixed beans as a replacement into this recipe, if you aren't keen on chorizo or prefer a meat free version. The Recipe Ingredients 100g Cous Cous (I use wholegrain but the choice is yours) 6-8 cherry tomatoes chopped in half 1/2 small red onion finely chopped 1tsp garlic powder 4 inch piece

Mushroom & Lemon Risotto

I quite like a meat free meal from time to time and one of my favourites is this risotto. It's as comforting as a fluffy blanket on a chilly night like tonight. You don't need many ingredients for this recipe either, however, it is a labour of love and you have to stay with it ... which for me means I usually get some tunes going and have a session of kitchen karaoke! Perfect :-) The Recipe Ingredients 125g (approx 1 cup) Arborio rice 1 white onion finely chopped 2 cloves o
